Broxted has a new landmark, a sign in Cranham Road to commemorate Her Majesty the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002.

Financed by a small surplus from the Jubilee celebrations at Moor End Farm in 2002 together with a contribution from the Parish Council, the sign, in wrought iron, was manufactured by Alpha Signs of Debden.

The Jubilee sign has been placed on the spot where the village school's flagpole used to stand. That symbol of village history was taken down some years ago but the small area of grass on which it stood is still called ‘the flagpole map’. The Parish Council hopes that former pupils, who had happy memories of flags' being unfurled from the flagpole, will enjoy this new addition to the village scene.

From the 2002 edition:

Broxted village is blessed with a number of fine "maps". These are small areas of land, often triangular in shape, formed at road junctions. The Parish Council, with the help of many villagers, maintains these areas and enhances them by the planting of bulbs and trees.

Flag Pole map, outside the former shop in Cranham Road, is next to the site of the old school and used to sport the village flagpole. There is a map at the junction of the road to the Eastons opposite Bell Meadow, and another by The Old Vicarage, upon which the Parish Council has recently placed a bench to commemorate the Millennium.
